UPSC IES PRE TECHNICAL DISCIPLINE PAPER CONSIST OF 150 QUESTIONS OF TOTAL 300 MARKS . PAPER IS DIVIDED IN TWO PARTS (NOT NECESSARILY IN ORDER ) .HERE FIRST PART OF THE SYLLABUS IS CONSIDERED FOR ANALYSIS.

PART 1

1. Basic Electronics Engineering:Total 10 questions of 20 marks. ( 13.33 %)

no question from semiconductor physics,no specific question from p n junction diode, one question from BJT (to find collector current).three questions from FETs .six question from opto electronics and special diodes part . no question from power switching devices.

2. Basic Electrical Engineering: Total 13 questions of 26 marks (17.33 %)

five  questions on basics and concept of induced EMF part.four questions from basics of transformer four questions from basics of induction machines.

3. Materials Science:total 9 questions of 18 marks (12 % )

one questions from crystalline structures.two questions from ceramic material and dielectric part.three questions from magnetic materials.three questions from conductors and super conductors.

4. Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation: 15 questions of 30 marks. (20 % )

four questions from basics of measurement and error analysis.two questions from indicating type instruments.no question from bridges (surprise) .four questions from electrical and electronic instruments.one question from CRO.one question from digital systems for measurement.two questions from transducer.one question from data acquisition systems and telemetry systems.

5. Network Theory: total 12 questions of 24 marks ( 16 % )

network basics- two question one about inductor and one basic question about network element. four questions from steady state sinusoidal analysis. no question from network theorems directly. one question from transient state analysis. two question from two port network basic A B C D parameters. one reason assertion from magnetic coupled circuit and two question from graph theory. no direct question from network synthesis part.

6. Analog and Digital Circuits: (analog part) : six question of 12 marks from analog electronics. ( 8% )

no question on diode circuits.three question from BJT circuits (coupling and currents questions). no question from frequency response and filters. no direct question on feedback amplifiers. no question on oscillators. two question on typical operational amplifiers. no question on power amplifier and regulator. one question on scimitt trigger  .
